If you are going to visit London you should think about staying in one of the hotels in the following places…

The West End – This is London’s theater district, so you will be close to all the great shows as well as some of the best attractions, including the Globe Theater (home to Shakespeare in his day), Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, Leicester Square and the London Zoo. London’s West End has always been a major tourist attraction so you will always be able to find accommodations that will fit within your price range and your comfort level. The area the West End occupies is typically classified by the streets that border it: Oxford Street on the north, Regent Street on the west, Kingsway on the east, and ‘The Strand’ on the South.

Bayswater / Paddington – Another popular spot for tourists is the Bayswater / Paddington area. Bayswater is comprised of mostly residential places and Paddington is a district right next to it. The older hotels in his part of London were once large family homes, so there is a real sense of warmth and elegance. Bayswater has an impressive array of mass transit options which can take you to almost anywhere including many city centre locations. Film buffs might be interested to know that “Notting Hill” with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts was set in one of the more well-heeled and popular sections of Bayswater. One of the most popular sites in this part of London is the Portobello Road Antique Market, the nearly legendary shopping extravaganza that is held every Saturday.

Kensington – If you do not want to be hammered by all the hustle and bustle of city life but you still want to be able to reach it easily, then you should look for a hotel in Kensington. Considered a borough of London, this lovely location is filled with public gardens, parks and green spaces that are perfect for relaxing, while an impressive set of transportation hubs and links will carry you to any spot in the city. You will also be able to visit Kensington Palace, which was at one time, the home of the late Princess Diana. This is a sophisticated and cultured piece of London, and the hotels in this area will provide you with an equally civilized place to stay. These locations are ideal if you would like to indulge yourself on your stay in London.

Westminster – The historic seat of power, located in the center of London. Westminster is home to the Palace of Westminster, the building in which parliament sits. There are several things to see in Westminster squares other than the palace of Westminster such as Big Ben, the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. Near Westminster is the wondrous Buckingham Palace, home of Queen Elizabeth the Second. Here is where you can catch the wonderful “Changing of the Guard” which happens before noon every single day. Westminster is also home to that other great symbol of political power, Downing Street. This area can easily be traveled to thanks to the various subway and transit systems that frequent it daily so this makes it an ideal spot to stay in when you are in London.

If you are planning to book an airline ticket, you may be confused as to which class to choose for. If you have only traveled in economy till date and you want to try business class, it is essential that you must know about business class very well. Many could have told you about their experience in traveling upper level class flights and you certainly want to try it out. Most often you too find it very difficult to get a business class seat too. So, is it worth taking all the trouble to get an executive class ticket?

Basically business class also recognized as executive class refers to the quality services provided by certain flights for their passengers who are willing to spend some extra money. Apart from this, services like first class, coach and coach plus are also offered by the airlines. The coach plus are the normal economy or the economy plus seats. The option of selecting executive class largely depends on your personal preferences. Furthermore, the services and comforts in an executive class vary with each airline company and each business class airlines offers different options and amenities for their passengers. Most people go for executive class for the better seating that it supplies. The seats are wider and a minimum of four inches of space is let for between the rows. This obviously provides more leg room. If you are tired of flying in uncomfortable economy seats, the executive class would be a luxury without feeling overcrowded. Some flights may even provide seats that lie almost flat and also lie down very much. However, the seats that completely lie flat are reserved for first class passengers. While flying business class, you can enjoy the luxury of having quality food and beverages. The passengers traveling to Jackson Hole Wyoming are given chance to choose from an expanded menu. From time to time, a limited variety of beverages are offered free during the flight. All these amenities are included in the airline fare itself. But if you go for some particular dishes while you are on your way to Jackson Hole Wyoming, you may need to pay some extra money.

Yet another advantage given to the passengers is the business class lounge at the airport. Services such as access to computers and email are open to the travelers in the lounge. It may even have a nap area and provides drinks. If you are waiting for another flight to Jackson Hole Wyoming for longer periods, such lounges are really helpful. If you are traveling in upper levels, you would be let to board the airline first. While the remainder of the passengers would be boarding, the upper level travelers would be offered beverages. Such privileged ones can avoid the rest of the people as they can enter and exit the plane through some special doorways sometimes.

When you go on vacation the last thing that you want to have worry about is if you will have enough money to do anything because you spent all of your money on your accommodation. But, we have all had the same quandary; do we spend more money on a hotel room and have less fun or do we do the opposite? There are other options that will allow you to stay in a nice place and still have money left over to have fun. Continue reading on and you will discover some great ways to save money the next time you book a hotel room.

What Are You Looking For In A Hotel – The amenities and features that you expect from a hotel, will determine how much you will need to spend. Are you planning to spend a lot of time in your room, and therefore want extravagant accommodation, or will your room simply be a place to sleep and change clothes between adventures, and thus need only provide the basics? Locating the best deals on hotel rooms will also be made easier, if you can create a narrower search by stating whether you will require a restaurant at the hotel, an internet connection in the room, or an on site pool.

Find A Discount Or Deal – It is very popular for hotels to team up with a partner to offer a package deal. You can save quite a bit of money when you look for discounts like this. Keep in mind, though, that you should only choose a package deal if you will really benefit from it. This means that you should need all parts of the package. Look into the deal and see if it really will save you money. Do not just accept a deal because it sounds good.

Are There Discounts Offered Through Your Credit Card Company? – On occasion, hotel chains and major credit card companies form a partnership to encourage vacationing and business travel to a certain destination, and will offer discounts for travelers who pay with this company’s credit card. An example of this is if Visa and Hilton hotels agree to provide a reduced rate to Visa card users who book a stay at a Hilton hotel. Although this is not a widely known available discount, it can save you a substantial amount on your hotel stay.

Check Directly With The Hotel Or Hotel Chain Always remember to call your hotel of choice directly. If you call a hotel directly, often they will give you a better deal because they have to share a portion of their booking fees with online companies and they lose money. If your accommodation of choice is like the Embassy Suites, then make sure that you call the hotel’s local number because if you call the 800-number, you will likely get someone who is in another state. Making reservations through the hotel’s local number will not only give you better pricing options, but they will also be able to tell what local attractions will be hot during your stay.

Now Try – Gatwick Hilton Hotel

Nothing beats backpacking in Europe if you get the opportunity. So, you probably want to realize what to pack for Europe.

Packing Your Backpack for Europe

Millions of people head off to Europe on a backpacking trip through a budget travel guide each year. Having done it five times, I can tell you that it will be one of the best times of your life. That being said, you must take some things with you. On the positive side, you don’t need that much.

Europe is not another planet. I mention this because you should keep in mind you can buy everything there if you forget it here. The first time people go backpacking in Europe, they tend to completely overdue it on the packing front. You are not climbing Mount Everest, so don’t overdue it!

The first things to pack are clothes. Depending on where you are going, you may need clothes for warm weather or cold. Assuming it is warm, you need a couple of shirts that are wrinkle resistant. You will buy others there, so don’t pack ten. You also will need a pair of shorts and a bathing suit. If you plan on visiting museums and churches, you will need a pair of long pants to get into many of them. Pack something light that is wrinkle resistant.

For your feet, you can load up on socks because they do not take much space. You will need some sandals and then a pair of something comfortable. Some prefer hiking boots, but I usually went with cross trainers. Whatever you do, make sure you get used to the shoes before heading off. You are going to walk a lot, so blisters from new shoes can be a killer.

On the personal front, you need a brush, toothpaste and any medicinal needs. That is it. You can buy anything else you need as you need it. There is zero point to lugging around shampoo all over Europe. Murphy’s law says it will open in your backpack! Keep it super simple.

While your trip will result in great memories, they will fade in time. Take a camera and, of course, one of our travel journals. The camera should be hardy so it can take the inevitable beating that will occur. Our Nomad travel journals are compact and in a case. They are perfect for trips to Europe because we were on one when we got the idea!

Europeans can read. This means you can buy travel guide info over there. If you plan to visit three or four countries, take the holiday travel guide for the FIRST country only. You can pick up the others over there or trade with other backpackers. Guidebooks are heavy and this will save you the aggravation of hauling them everywhere. Also, cybercafes are everywhere, so you do not need to bring a laptop unless you really have a specific need.

Finally, keep copies of your passport and any supporting documentation with you. One set goes in your backpack while another goes in your shorts, money belt or wherever you have space.

Pack light. If you forget something, you can buy it over there. Have a blast!

Many people still see a trip to Walt Disney World and sunny Florida as a once-in-a-life-time trip. They look at the cost of flights, accommodation, car-hire, park tickets and spending money through discount international airfare and think that it really will cost the earth.

Today, this is not the case.

If you invest a little time into researching and planning your holiday with discount travel package not only will you get more out of your time, but also more importantly, you will save lots of money.

So where do you start. Firstly, forget the notion that to visit Florida and Orlando, you need to book a package holiday. Although this is unarguably a quick solution, you are paying either a travel agent or a tour company for the convenience. Start thinking independent travel, break the holiday up into its component parts, and you will begin to see ways you can save.

Flights. Shop around for your flights, if you can book well ahead through discount vacation package,
you can frequent secure the lowest prices, as airlines many times increase their prices as the seats begin to fill. This will also mean that you, with many airlines, can decide your seats, allowing you and your party to sit together, (or apart if you select). If you are looking for a last minute deal, don’t despair. There are still bargains to be had. Some companies buy seats in advance to sell on as last minute deals at prices which are reduced below the carrier’s own prices.

Accommodation. Holidays have come a long way recently. You no longer have to spend your well-earned rest crammed together with your friends or family in a double hotel room. Or pay a premium just to get connecting rooms. Now you can easily rent an entire vacation home in which to really relax and enjoy your holiday. Take a look at a Condo or a Townhouse. These offer you a full home from home with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy yourself. Most Condo and Townhouse rentals are located in wonderful communities which provide all the facilities you would expect from a luxury resort including swimming pools, hot-tubs, gyms, tennis courts and much more. Because a Condo or Townhouse can offer you two, three or four bedrooms you will very quickly discover yourself saving lots of money when traveling with a party.

Car-Hire. When you organise a package holiday many companies will include a car. The only problem is they do not include insurances. These are the most expensive part of the car-hire deal. Shop around and you will discover you can get a far better deal by yourself, and often you can get a large and better car for less money. A few companies even offer all-inclusive car-hire deals, which really do include all your insurances in one low price. This will save you a lot.

These are the three large expenses you have when considering a visit to sunny Florida. But when you shop around and look at the options available to you, you will see that you really can save a lot of money, and have a great holiday. A little work at this end will help you get the most out of your time and pocket when visiting Orlando.

Mishandled baggage is not an uncommon phenomenon in air travel. The US Department of Transportation recently reported that for every 200 passengers flying domestic on the ten largest US airlines, at least one files a mishandled baggage report.

Losing one’s luggage is a definite headache for travelers. To avoid such mishaps, the following pointers are recommended:

Travel with only carry-on luggage. You take your bags with you inside the cabin, so you do not have to worry about them being lost or stolen. Generally, a passenger is allowed two pieces of carry-on luggage, one for the overhead bin and the other for under the seat. Additional items such as umbrellas and baby strollers are also permitted.

Do not load heavy items in the overhead storage bin. Even lightweight items can cause serious injuries if they fall out of the overhead. The maximum weight for carry-on bags is 40 pounds. Put your contact information on every bag. Stick a label on the outside of all your luggage indicating your name and address. Put a duplicate along with your itinerary and travel guides book inside your bags. This will help the airline locate your bags in case they are misplaced. The measure should also be done on your carry-on bags, just in case you need to check them in at the last minute.

Customize the look of your bags. Many bags have look alike designs. So, customize your checked bags to make them easier to spot on the baggage carousel and to prevent other passengers to grab them by mistake. Keep your valuables with you. Store your valuable items, such as money, jewelry, laptop computers, destination travel guide and electronic files in your carry-on luggage so they would not get lost.

Verify the correctness of airline tags on your luggage. The three-letter identifier tagged on your checked baggage should match your destination airport. When in doubt, check with your ticket agent and discount travel guide. Keep the stub from your checked luggage. The stub is a very important key to identifying your bags in case it is lost or picked up by someone else by accident.

Immediately report lost checked luggage. If your bags have not turned up at your destination, notify the baggage agents on duty or any of your airline’s representatives available at once.

Anticipate the loss of a bag. It is always better to be safe than to be sorry. Pack your bags in a way that the loss of a bag will not hamper your trip. Distribute clothes and underwear among your bags. If you have a business meeting and are carrying presentation materials with you, either pack backup copies in another bag or have it sent ahead of you. Do not pack hazardous goods. Some items, while commonplace and essential at home or in the workplace, pose a safety threat to passengers and crew in the cabin. If your airline allows them in checked baggage, make sure they are packed properly.

As always, verify with your airline their policies and guidelines regarding baggage.

Is a visit to the UK on your travel agenda this year? The UK is a rich source of history and culture and offer all sorts of attractions. There are also many accommodation options to choose from:

Chain Hotels – Most big hotel chains offer accommodation in the UK including Hilton, Marriott, Holiday Inn and many others. Many of these types of hotels can be found in major cities. London actually has multiple hotels from each chain. Chain hotels are the most expensive type of accommodation in the UK. However, you do get what you pay for. You will have to pay at least $100.00 a night if you stay at a chain hotel.

Independent Hotels – Are sometimes less expensive and sometimes not, as they range from luxurious getaway resorts to the cheapest places with the least amenities. They can be found all over the UK, even in small towns that are normally not considered to offer tourist attractions. You can really get a good deal staying in an independent hotel, but you need to take care that you choose one that is clean and has good service. This can be a gamble as it is all up to the individual proprietor. Most of these accommodation range from $40 to $100+.

Hostels – These are a great option for people traveling in the UK on a budget, especially young people. You usually just get a bed in a shared room and very little more. They are uncommon outside of London, but if you look around you can find them in other major cities. The average cost is about $20 a night but prices vary.

Bed And Breakfasts – These establishments are something of a UK tradition and are very popular with UK citizens who travel within the country during their vacation. A typical bed and breakfast is basically a large house that rents out rooms to tourists. They are very personal and the owners normally do what they can do make you feel at home. As you can guess by the name, breakfast is nearly always included in the price, which ranges from $20 to $50.

Most UK accommodation have a website or can be found on one of those websites that offers a variety of accommodation. However you look, you should be able to find the perfect accommodation for your UK vacation in less than half an hour.

Oh yes, that lovely time of day. Empty streets, full restaurants. Don’t expect shops to be open between 2pm and 5pm (some only close between 2pm and 4pm). However, we do feel the urge to demistify this urban legend: not everyone goes have a 3 hour nap in the middle of the afternoon. Long lunches accompanied by wine and followed by neverending cafe solos are usually taken place during this mid-afternoon break. If you travel through discount airline travel, you understand what it means. We love it.

Travelling About Town

Taxis are cheap. Flabbergastingly cheap. If you don’t know what “flabbergastingly” means… look it up. But realize that taxis are very cheap. Especially when shared with 3 other people. But don’t expect to realize available taxis on a Friday or Saturday night – they are impossible! Queues in Pl. Catalunya can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours on a Friday or Saturday night..

Buses are easy to use and get around. Nightbuses don’t run that frequently though. Getting the bus from the airport to Pl. Catalunya costs 3.65 euros and the average journey time is about 25 minutes.

The metro stations are HOT! In the summer, they are boiling hot. Girls should walk around in their bikini tops – that should be made a rule. But the metro itself has air conditioning and is usually on time. And everything is pretty much within half an hour reach. A 3 month pass for under-21 year olds costs 100 euros, which is excellent. And the pass works for bus and metro. For over 21 year olds it is 112 euros, so there is not much of a difference. Overall, if you travel through discount travel deal, it is cheap, reliable and hot. Boiling hot. And that’s all I have to say about that.

The Prostitutes

They are out there! In the heart of Barcelona, flooding the Ramblas (and not only) after 2am, totally transforming Barcelona from day to night. If you are a group of guys walking through the Ramblas, it is guaranteed that at least one of them will grab you and ask, very blatantly, if you want sex. Our advice: Run. The most likely thing is that they will go for your pocket to try and steal your wallet or mobile. Or they will take you somewhere dodgy and steal from you there. Either way, don’t do it. You will look like nothing but a traveler of a discount vacation package, and people will make fun of you. I realize I will!!

The Street Beer Sellers

There are dozens of Pakistani/Indian beer sellers around Bairro Gotico, Raval and the Ramblas. Remember: They are your friends, not your enemies. There is no reason to be afraid of the,. I have yet to hear a story of anyone getting robbed by a beer seller. They sell beers for 1 euro each and 5 euros for a pack of 6. If you know how to talk to them, youll be able to bargain it down to 70cents a beer. They swear they are not part of a mafia. Yet they share beers and change constantly. The truth is out there…

Cigarettes And Tobacco

Since the first day of 2006, an “anti-smoking law” has been put in place by the Government. However, it doesn’t obligate any establishment to ban smoking. Instead, it gives them the option to choose whether they want to ban smoking or not and notify the public with a banner outside the establishment. Needless to say, you can smoke pretty much everywhere. Cigarettes are cheaper in specialised tobacco shops (”Tabacs”). The only other place to buy cigarettes are from machines in bars and certain kiosks.

Prices that are advertised for hotel rooms are often very misleading. It is difficult to tell if you are looking at a good deal simply by looking at the advertised price. Before booking, you should always look further into the prices:

Location – If a hotel is located out of the way then you will need to factor in the extra travel costs that you will incur. If you have your own transport, then this is not such a big deal, though you will still be paying at least a bit extra for gas, but if you are relying on taxis and public transport then it is certainly something to consider. Ask about a free shuttle service too, as some hotels provide one whereas some do not.

Facilities – If two hotels are charging the same price for a room but one has, say a swimming pool and a gym, then that one is better value than the one without the extra facilities. Similarly, if you do not plan to use any extra facilities then staying in a hotel that has them will mean that you will probably be paying extra unnecessarily.

Hotel food – If you are planning on staying in a hotel for several days, chances are good that you might want to grab a meal in the hotel’s restaurant. Most hotel restaurants overcharge for the convenience of eating in the same building that you are staying in. The question is: How much is your hotel overcharging? When comparing two or more hotels, ask how much a simple meal such as a hamburger and fries costs. If the cost is over $12.00, you are being overcharged. That fact alone might help you decide which hotel is the better value.

Breakfast – Find out if breakfast is included in the price you pay and also what is included in the breakfast. Some hotels provide just coffee and toast for breakfast whereas others provide an ‘eat as much you want’ style buffet. If you are not planning to have breakfast, then ask if you can get a discount off of the advertised price.

Check out time – Different hotels have different check out times. Look into this before booking a room. You may not want to leave your room before 11am, noon or 1pm. If checkout is very early, see if you can negotiate a discount. If you get into the room very late the night before, see if you can get a later check out time. Hotels will sometimes compromise. Some hotels will also hold your luggage for you while you site see, either earlier than your check in time or later than your check out time.

Now Try – Birmingham Hotel

So you are planning a trip to Europe? There are certain cities that are “must sees.” They are the location of world famous sites and landmarks, and offer a special insight into Europe’s myriad of cultures.

The beautiful Spanish city of Barcelona sits on the Mediterranean coast. As a consequence of it being the capital of the Catalan region of Spain, it has its own proud and unique history and culture, which sets it apart from the majority of Spain. Historically and and architecturally there is a lot of interest, from Roman ruins to spectacular churches. There are countless art galleries and museums to walk around and also a selection of beautiful, relaxing beaches. For sports fans, there is the opportunity to watch a game of football at the Camp Nou, which is home to what is widely agreed to be the best football team on the planet.

And finally, there’s Paris. Everyone knows that Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world. It is also large and full of life. The center of Paris is home to many famous architectural sites including the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, and The Eiffel Tower. Much of Paris’ character comes from the River Seine which runs through the city. Paris is also the home of all sorts of secret city squares and hidden gardens. The most famous art museum in Paris is, of course, The Louvre but there are many, many others. And, of course, Paris is known for its restaurants and shopping.

And who would pass Venice by? Venice is a group of islands linked together by canals and is set in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It is a rich center of history as, at one time, it was one of the most powerful cities in Europe. This power was based on its merchant shipping and naval power. Venice flaunts its rich history in its fabulous architecture. Much important art of the Renaissance came out of Venice and it can still be visited in Venice today. You can travel through Venice by foot but who would leave Venice without partaking of a gondola trip?

London is, arguably, the most diverse city on the planet. More languages are spoken by its inhabitants than in any other city in the world and it is a real melting pot of cultures. There are a huge range of things to keep you entertained in London – theaters, museums, art galleries and famous buildings. You think that you can every major city has those, but what is on offer in London is a cut above what you will find elsewhere. It is a paradise for shoppers, music lovers and sports too. Whether it is designer clothes, live music or star filled sports teams you want, you will not be disappointed.

Now Try – Co-op Holidays
